Ceramics
I live here in beautiful Moab surrounded by amazing artist friends including a professional clay artist, Joanne Savoie. I was so inspired by her incredible works. Being a clay artist was far beyond my imagination, but one day in June, 2018 some friends and I wanted to play with clay during the heat so Joanne Savoie designed a class just for us at Desert Sun Ceramics Studio. The moment I touched clay I fell in love with it. It was an incredible feeling but frustrating at the same time. Clay has its own mind and can be so stubborn at times. Since we spent so much time together we became friends, at least that is what I think.
I have been making many different kinds of form and using different techniques for functional and non-functional pieces. It has endless possibilities. I spent days to finish one piece which surprised me that I can be that patient. Normally, I would like to finish my art quickly, but my stubborn friend has its own mind and soul and wouldn’t co-operate.
Besides clay, I also enjoy Zentangle, acrylic pouring and photography for my own pleasure. I am retired and have been selling my clay products at Desert Highlights with all profit going to local charities.
I am happy that I can be a part of Moab Studio Tour and would love to hear from you about what you think of my work. Come visit me at Desert Sun Ceramics Studio.
See you !
